As a premiere of the new tag 'Imaginatory', which will capture insights and thoughts about envisioning change by means of design, here 3 design axioms from the Stanford professor that teaches the local-famous course ME310 where students have to create paper bicycles, Mark R. Cutkosky:We are interested in the role design thinking can play in helping people and organizations get smarter about a subject (by means of frameworks, tools, objects, spaces, etc..) and successfully put the learnings and knowledge into practice to deliver innovative and life-changing solutions that can positively impact the world.
This means bringing design's way of solving problems to areas within an organization that have been traditionally neglected by the design practitioners, and helping individuals within this organizations acquire the knowledge, the values and the mindset required to potentially apply design thinking (as problem solving) to any step of the value chain.
