Innovation happens on the shopfloor

"In this new environment, more ideas will bubble up from the bottom, not down from the top. “A lot of innovation now happens on the shop floor,” says Hewlett Packard CEO Leo Apotheker.

Instead of off-site “innovation centers” with “big thinking R&D teams,” you’ll have frontline workers and top management acting together. They’ll be using increased resources to access new information and through such means as social networking communicate that learning throughout the company."
